Hopefully you had a chance to read over the holidays. I was very excited to have time to read some adult books over the holidays. Usually I spend my time reading kid lit (which I of course love as well). We're very excited to share lots of new books with you this year. Also please share with us any books you would like the library to own that we don't. We love to get suggestions from students.
If you are keen to do some non fiction reading or research at home, check out our two new digital subscriptions, at home or school. We now subscribe to PebbleGo Science, geared towards Reception-Year 2, and World Book Digital Encyclopedia, geared towards Years 3-7.
You will need to get login details to both sites either from your teacher or the library. Explore and enjoy! Let us know what you think.

We're looking forward to the Scholastic Book Fair in week 6. Classes will preview the book fair on Monday and Tuesday. During the preview, students will fill out a wish list to bring home and share with families. You may then give your child money to purchase books or come in yourself to buy books as gifts. The book fair will be open for purchases before school from 8:30-9:00 and after school from 3:00-3:30, Tuesday through Friday. Children will also be able to make purchases during lunch on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Adults may purchase books by credit as we will have an EFTPOS machine available. There will also be some stationary items for sale. Scholastic gives LPPS 20-30 percent of the proceeds so we can purchase additional resources for our library.
The book fair is a great opportunity for students to make some choices for summer reading!

If you haven't been in to visit the library for a while, you're in for a surprise. During the holidays, we moved all of our shelves and just about every book in the collection. Nothing is where it was last time you came in...except the picture fiction books. Our non-fiction collection is no longer spread out all around the library. It's condensed into a smaller area. Shelves are no longer all in rows. Instead, we have zig-zag shelves in both fiction and non-fiction areas.
We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our new furniture which should add colour and allow us to have more flexible seating and break out places for students to read and play games at lunch.
Come in and tell us what you think.
